What it does for you
Supports a calmer baseline alongside the other peptides. A supporting active, not the lead.
Why we use it
It is the other half of Matrixyl® 3000. Low-grade irritation is one of the things that makes a routine unreadable, so a calming partner earns its place in the complex.
Mechanism
Proposed to reduce production of interleukin-6, a signalling molecule involved in low-grade skin inflammation. The palmitoyl chain is added to help it penetrate.
Use level
Part of Matrixyl 3000 at 3%, the supplier's recommended level.
Commonly confused with
One of the most widely used peptides in cosmetics, which reflects how often it is chosen rather than how strong the standalone evidence is.

Panel concluded the ingredient family is safe at present practices of use and concentration. Reports concentration-of-use ranges: Tripeptide-1 at 0.00002 to 0.001 percent; Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 at 0.0000001 to 0.001 percent; Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 at 0.000005 to 0.0015 percent across 249 reported uses.
